I have to say this was a first for me – taking the cat for a walk? It may also be a first for the guy because he was laughing all the way down the road.
The ‘ 80136’ pulling into Crowcombe Heathfield Station, one of 8 stations on the West Somerset line which runs the 20 or so miles between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard just outside Taunton. The delightful settings surrounding the line include The Quantocks – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the edge of the Exmoor National park, the Brendon hills and some stunning coastal scenery looking across the Bristol Channel to the opposite coast of Wales.
This fellow was a real character! He was so proud of his skeins of cloth that even when no-one was there he still folded, stroked and tended them like like they were living things. I believe he was struggling in this open air market but I wished him well and hope he profited from the day.
This lovely little lass had a poor start to life which did not really improve over the years but, along with the rough, I hope she appreciated a some of the smooth. Taken c1985.
